Hair Thinning

Questions

WHY IS MY HAIR THINNING?

Hair loss of various types affects around 20% of the population, with 1 in 5 of us aged 25 and over experiencing thinning hair here in the UK. Reduction in hair growth comes in many different forms; irreversible or ‘Scarring’ Alopecias are most commonly seen in women; Androgenetic Alopecia is temporary and linked to family history and hormonal changes, and another type called Telogen Effluviam is often caused by emotional trauma or dietary deficiency and can be reversed through correct intervention.

WHAT IS THE DIAGNOSIS PROCESS?

After initial consultation, a blood test or scalp analysis may be required to explore any underlying causes of the hair loss. In my clinics, alongside the physical aspects of hair loss, psychological exploration and management also plays an important role in the consultation process and treatment planning, as hair loss often negatively impacts feelings of attractiveness, confidence and sociability in both men and women.

WHICH TREATMENTS CAN HELP?

Whether or not the hair recovers to some extent or completely is dependent on the cause of the hair loss. A course of prescribed oral and / or topical medications can help to invigorate the hair growth cycle. A course of Platelet-Rich Plasma Therapy may also be recommended as these treatments have excellent clinical results behind them.
