Fractional and CO2 Laser Resurfacing at Emma Coleman Skin Clinics Beckenham and Sevenoaks

If you’ve struggled with leftover scars, congestion and roughness, stubborn pigmentation, or lax skin around face and eyes, you know how hard it can be to find a treatment that truly works. Topicals and actives help in your skincare routine but sometimes you need something a little deeper.

That is where fractional and CO2 laser come in…Fractional and CO2 laser treatments have become one of the most popular dermatology procedures for revealing clearer, smoother and more even toned skin and we are seeing some amazing results with these technologies.

What is fractional laser?

Fractional laser is a skin resurfacing treatment that uses tiny micro-beams of light that create controlled micro-injuries to the skin that triggers your body’s natural healing process, producing fresh collagen and replacing damaged skin cells with newer, healthier ones.

Think of this treatment as a ‘reset’ on areas where your skin is imbalanced. By refining pores, smoothing texture, softening fine lines, boosting firmness and improving radiance, your skin looks healthier, more youthful and fresh.

As it is with any treatment, to achieve your desired aesthetic goals for your skin, this may take a few sessions (around 3-5) to achieve with typically around four to six weeks intervals in between to allow your skin to begin its healing process. Downtime is approximately 5 to 7 days.

What is CO2 laser?

CO2 laser gets its name because it uses carbon dioxide (CO₂) gas as its active laser medium. This is a deeper treatment compared to fractional laser, where Various settings are used to reduce problem areas on the face and body. We like to use this option for deep acne scars, surgical scarfs and stretch marks, but it’s also really effective for general  anti-ageing as it tightens skin around the eyes too! Downtime with CO2 laser is more profound compared to fractional laser, with prolonged swelling, redness and skin flaking for up to 14 days in some cases.
